Pops, I know I take up a lot of your time, but would a shower kill you?
An Ode to my Pops: My Pops is da bomb, yo.  Here's what he did.  Yesterday, Moms and I hung at the house while he braved a Babies-R-Us on a SATURDAY.  Not only did he go there, but he got Moms her Medela Pump.  How many guys do you know who would do that?  He also got some cool bottles after researching on the internets what was best.  Now, that's a good guy.  BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!  Moms loves me a lot but I took a lot out of her last week, so Pops called and got her a massage appointment.  We dropped her off at about 9:30 this morning and cruised around town until she was done.  Then he made dinner for Moms, Grandpa J and Granny V.  Oh yeah, he also holds me, talks to me, and generally rocks the house.

I am one week old today!  (Check out the new "Growth Chart" page!)  Sometimes people wonder what's so entertaining about a baby as small as me.  Moms says it's dressing me in cute outfits like the one Miss Ila and Miss Kellie got me.  Pops says it's watching me act like a drunken sailor right after a good meal.  Those things are probably true.  I'll let you in on a little secret, though: I like to entertain myself!  What I do is right after a good meal, when I'm all dressed up and cute, I pee through my diaper.  I get Pops and Moms all wet, they have to change me again, and in general they both try to figure out if they are putting my diaper on wrong while they strip the crib and start another load of laundry.  Good times...

I loves my Pops
It's June 8th and I'm officially two weeks old today.  Last Friday I had my first doctor's appointment and we learned that I am already 9 pounds, 4 ounces of baby!  Apparently, they hope you're back up to your birth weight by your first appointment, so I guess that means I'm exceptional...It did not come as a surprise to Moms and Pops who have been feeding me.  Moms can't even keep up with all I can eat, so I get some formula from time to time to tide me over.  It works out pretty well for all of us, and the good news is, if I eat well, I can sleep for just over four hours at a time already too!  Moms and Pops like that part the best of all.

That top picture on the left is me and Pops the morning of my doc appointment.  Moms gave me a bath while Pops tried to sleep in...I say "tried" because I screamed through the whole thing.  I am not a fan of nudity at this point.  I don't particularly care for a diaper change, and the bath was no fun at all.

The other picture on the left is me in another Neglect-O-Matic.  The one Emmitt likes got moved upstairs to the master bath so I can hang in there while Moms and I are up there together, and this new one is a little taller so Emmitt doesn't get up in it (or, at least, he hasn't yet).  It's not that I mind sharing, but it is the shedding season and Moms gets a little grossed out when she finds kitty hair on me (I don't mind, though....)  As you might be able to tell from the picture, I have started to see and notice things around me.  I can't quite reach those things hanging over my head, but I find them utterly fascinating.  What do you want from me?  I'm fourteen days old!

Pops returned to work today, but fear not--Moms and I were not forced to fend for ourselves.  Granny V came over and hung out with us.  It was great.  I slept on her chest for FOUR HOURS, and Moms got a few things done that she needed to do.  Tomorrow Pops goes to work again, and Granny V is coming over for the afternoon to hang out.  Instead of working around the house, though, Moms is going to take a nap.

Neglect-O-Matic 2
My third week was pretty jam-packed with fun and excitement.  Granny V hung out with me and Moms during the week.  On Wednesday, we went to Washington Square.  It was quite an adventure due to a carseat snafu that has since been fixed.  I slept the entire time to the relief of Moms and Granny V.

Pops went back to work last week looking a bit like the walking dead.  Even though Moms handles the middle of the night stuff now that he's working, we're still in the room with him so I do what I can to make sure he remembers that I'm around to rock his world.  (I do a good job at 3 a.m. if I do say so myself!)  He looks a little tired when he leaves for work.  The one exception to this was last night--Pops had a trial scheduled today so Moms and I hung out in the guest room downstairs so he could get a good night's sleep and be awake for the jury!!

Yesterday it was Boys' Day In--Grandpa Jeff came over and hung out with me and Pops while Moms went to not one, but TWO baby showers!  I can't wait to meet my new play-pals Ava and Jack when they arrive in July and August.

After the shower cousins Rhonda and Miranda came by.  I got to meet Rhonda in the hospital, but Miranda was on an East Coast adventure so it was the first time I got to check her out and vice versa.  She seems pretty cool, and I hear that I'm going to have lots of fun with her and Katy Jo as the years go by.

Biggest news of all from this week is that I now have a belly button!  My cord came off during one of my 3 a.m. rants while Moms was trying to burp me (which I hate--less time burping, more time feeding I always say!)

It is June 22nd and I have now been around for FOUR WHOLE WEEKS.

Last week, Miss Christy and Jake came by on Monday and brought me a cool stuffed animal, and brought Moms a National Geographic Travel Magazine so she could pretend like a trip to an exotic location was in her future.  Heh.  I don't think so, lady!

Tuesday Granny V came over to hang out and Auntie Heather brought lunch.  I wore the cute overalls she got me so she could see what good taste she has.

Thursday Moms went to see her doctor, so Granny V and I tagged along.  I got to meet Nurse Karen and Dr. Flath, but Dr. Eilers (who actually delivered me) wasn't around so he didn't get a chance to see how devilishly handsome I've become.

On Friday, Pops took the day off and we went to my doctor so she could check my melon.  All is well, and I'm proud to report I weighed in at a modest 10 pounds, 11 ounces.  That's almost two whole pounds since my birth.  Ask my parents about how much I can pack away--I'm going for a world record.

BIG DAY on Saturday.  Big Day.  Started out pretty mellow, but then I got a bath (yuck!) and got dressed up in fancy clothes to go to the wedding of Mr. Brian and Miss Roxanne in Oregon's Wine Country.  Moms took her camera, but I pretty much slept in my carseat the entire time.  That is, until the room got quiet for toasts--that woke me up.  Pops and Moms rushed me to the restroom for a quick diaper change and bottle to keep me quiet, only Moms realized she forgot the bottle cap so no bottle for me.  Poor Moms: she didn't dress to nurse me but she was stuck, so we hung out in one of two bathrooms (to the delight of all the wedding guests, I might add) while I ate (and ate, and ate....)  While at the wedding I got to meet lots of cool people including (but not limited to!) Mr. Sean and Miss Tonya, Mr. Jose and Miss Kristine, Mr. Nathan and Miss Ambyr, Mr. Don and Miss Colette, and Judge Wittmayer who officiated over the ceremony.  I also got to see Mr. Eric again and meet his super cool lady Dr. Vance.

After the wedding, we rushed home to get me a bottle and then we were off to Mr. John's 40th Birthday party!  We arrived fashionably late, but in time to hear the toasts and have some cake.  I was wide-eyed when we first arrived, and got to meet even more cool people including Miss Caroline and Mr. Aaron and Miss Anna and Mr. Matt.  Dr. Vance held me for a while, and then Moms strapped me into the Bjorn and I fell asleep.

Speaking of sleep, I am proud to report that on Thursday night I slept 5 straight hours and on Friday night I slept 6 straight hours.  Saturday, because we were party people, my schedule was a bit off but I did sleep from midnight to 9:30 am, with one wake up feeding about in the middle.  Moms and Pops were psyched.  So happy, in fact, they started telling everyone about the sleeping thing and so last night I decided to let them know who is in charge and slept in two hour chunks with an awesome 3 hour awake time in the middle.  Moms was loving life.  Pops got to sleep through most of it, but I went ahead and made some noise to make sure he knew we were up.  Wouldn't want him getting too comfortable!

Five weeks today!  Be sure to check out my growth chart page to see how big I'm getting!!

Let's see...last Wednesday, instead of Granny V coming here to hang out, Moms and I went to her house.  I got to meet several members of the Massine family--Moms tells me that they were the first neighbors she met when she was six years old and first moved to Aloha.  Mr. Ed and Miss Judy were there, along with their daughter-in-law Miss Shari, and her kids Ava and Saxon.  Saxon was born about 7 weeks before I was.  I'd like to share pictures of this visit with you, but unfortunately I slept through the entire thing buried in my carseat (pretty much just like last week's wedding...)

On Thursday I got a bath from Granny V and I smiled and cooed through the whole thing (after relieving myself, of course).  Incidentally, this prompted Moms and Granny V to tell Pops how much, now that I've graduated from sponge bath to tub bath, I really love baths!!!   On Sunday, Moms gave me a bath and I SCREAMED the entire time--again, I like to keep my parents on their toes and make liars out of them whenever possible.

On Friday Moms got her hairs cut and Granny V and I hung here at the house.  On Saturday, Moms, Pops, and I went out on a big adventure.  We took my brother Maxwell to doggy daycare (so he can get some attention from SOMEONE now that he's depressed and neglected here at home!) and then we walked around the Pearl District.  We checked out Jameson Square, where I know I will hang out and play in the fountain when I'm older, and then we went to Hot Lips Pizza for a couple of slices.  It was fun not to feel like a complete shut in for once.  Later that day, Gramps and Granny V stopped by as did Uncle Bob and Auntie Heather.  Auntie Heather leaves tomorrow for a whirlwind tour of Europe so she thought she'd better check me out once more before she left.

On Sunday Pops and I hung out most of the day while Moms did some yardwork.  I know how much Pops detests yardwork, so I'm happy to say that he likes me better than that, at least!  We watched the US-Brazil soccer game (yawn) and then some baseball...I confess, I prefer watching sports to some of the reality shows Moms and I watch during the week.  Real Housewives of New Jersey?  Fuggedaboutit!
