Party animals that we were, we went to bed a little late on New Year's Eve and we all slept in on January 1st. I was saving up all my energy for a big day of football with my parents.
Pops seemed pretty relaxed that day, probably because he didn't have a team playing in any of the bowl games, but Moms was excited to see her Ducks in the Rose Bowl.
So was I....and then I experienced the first bitter disappointment of my young life.
Pre-game and ready to go! Quack Attack!
Feeling pretty good at the end of the first half!
The tide started to turn....
...as did my mood.
Post-game dismay sets in
Saturday, January 2 we put the depression of college football behind us and headed north to Seattle. We met up with Mr. Mark O, one of Pops' pals from his UW days, and had some serious pie. Pops is still talking about how delicious it was, and it was the first time I got a table scrap in the form of some pizza crust. I must say, I see what he was talking about even with my young palate.
We stayed at the Westin as did the Clinards so we all had dinner together at another Tom Douglas Seattle restaurant (seriously, between him and Starbucks is there any real estate left?) and then Moms and I headed to bed. Pops and Mr. Mark C had some drinks at the hotel bar and talked about old times. They were feeling like reminiscing because we learned the news that the Clinards are moving to Massachusetts that day. Moms and Pops are sad that their good friends are leaving, but I'm psyched because it means I'll get to check out Fenway soon!
Sunday we went to the Seahawks-Titans game...and in the span of 3 days I tasted bitter disappointment twice. The Seahawks did not look good, which explains why their head coach was fired a few days later. Welcome to Seattle, Mr. Carroll! (well, we'll see....)
I think I'm living right--my 3rd "Heavenly Bed" in less than a month
A little pre-game chomp on my teething ring--I've got the front bottom two teeth, and now my top two lateral incisors are coming in. I look a bit odd...Also, ever since I started teething I chew on the hard plastic part of my ring, not the soft cold part, to the dismay/ amusement of all who watch me.
Ken Griffey Jr raised the 12th Man Flag pre-game--you can see him behind me on the big screen
Day 1 at my new daycare--checking out the play area with Pops
The New Year meant a new daycare for me! Moms and Pops loved the people at St. James, but this new place is a little bit closer to home which is nice for the drop off and pick up day-to-day. I will be able to go here until I am a big kid at kindergarten and the classrooms for the older kids look really neat and have cool outdoor play areas too!
On Tuesday night I got to see Granny V and Grandpa Jeff. They came over to babysit me while my parents went to the Blazers-Grizzlies game (some bitter disappointment I mercifully missed out on!)
My care providers all noticed I was a little bit sad and listless this week, which Moms thought was because of those teeth coming in, and they thought was just me adjusting to the new place...Then I started coughing a lot. Then I threw up two nights in a row, so on Thursday we took a quick trip to the doctor who discovered I had an ear infection in both ears! I'm now on antibiotics and almost back to my old happy self. Even though I've been a little under the weather, I've smiled through it all.
That same night, Miss Susan came over to watch the National Championship game with us. I hear from Moms she is one of my biggest fans here on the website so I thought I'd better toss out that shout out. Come back soon, Miss Sussy!
Moms had the camera when Pops came into the room, look at how adoringly Maxwell and I stare at him. Moms thinks it's RIDICULOUS!
In my stylish NYC baby outfit from the stylish Miss Alafair and Mr. Sean. They know every girl's crazy about a sharp-dressed man. Thanks for the hook up!
So, a lot has happened in the last three weeks although it's probably more interesting to my parents than it will be to you, dear readers!
First off, I forgot to tell you that at my doctor's appointment in early January I weighed in at 22 pounds, 6 ounces. I have officially passed Emmitt!!
Sadly for Emmitt (and Layla and Maxwell) I am also starting to crawl. Right now it's pretty much a military type crawl (you know like in the movies when they're crawling under wires?) It's one of those crawls--elbows on the ground and dragging my legs behind me. I can cruise, though!
Also, I now have 6 teeth--4 on top and 2 on the bottom--and I'm NOT afraid to use them! So when you to come to visit LOOK OUT!
Check out all the pix below--January is over but it was a big month!
This is a good angle for me--only one chin!
Pops is pretty much my hero, so I like to dress just like him whenever possible
An impromptu breakfast out after my booster shots was fine and dandy, until my parents realized they didn't pack anything to distract me with. Pops sacrificed his watch for my entertainment.
Later, Moms scraped some of the schmear off of her bagel and let me give it a try. Pretty delish, Kornblatt's!
If you look closely, you can see two of my top teeth in this picture. Pay no attention to the Cowboys shirt...Moms did that to me...someday when I can dress myself I'll have my revenge.
You SHOULD check out this shirt, though--it's one of my favorites!
A few days after the long weekend, daycare called Moms at work and said I was KICKED out because I had a fever. So on Thursday afternoon Moms came and got me and I got to go to her work for a little while. Then Friday Pops, who was also sick, and I stayed home together. There's one cool thing about being sick: cuddling with your parents (and kitty!)
Ready to watch a Saints game and / or a Run DMC reunion concert
Watching Moms make me some grub in the Beaba Babycook. I love food.
I don't get to watch "Jersey Shore" but something tells me if I did, I'd find this Situation to be a bit embarrassing
Pops went out of town for a long weekend of golf with the fellas. This is how I look when I miss him.
Watching Moms get ready to go out. Borrrrrringggg!
Watching basketball and chewing on my new cool toy from the Mike family--I finally got to meet Moms' met sister, Miss Roxann!
